Hi! My name is Rory, and everyone in Blocky Bay Village calls me “Redstone-Pants” McBlock. I got that silly nickname on my very first day at the village workshop. I was so excited to learn about building that I sat down right on a pile of redstone dust! The red powder stuck to my pants and made them glow bright red whenever I got really happy or excited. All the other kids giggled, but I thought it was pretty cool to have magical glowing pants.

Most people in our village think I’m just the clumsy kid who can’t build anything right. My inventions always fall down or explode in colorful, harmless puffs of smoke. I carry a toolbox full of random blocks like purple wool, cactus pieces, and buttons because you never know when you might need them! My biggest success so far is a backwards clock tower that tells time in reverse. Nobody really understands it, but my grandmother says it’s creative.

I live with my grandmother who runs the flower shop in our beautiful village. She always tells me that being different is special, even when my contraptions don’t work the way I planned. I dream of becoming a Master Builder someday, but most people just see me as the village’s lovable failure. When I get nervous, I giggle a lot and ask “What if we tried this?” while pulling random blocks from my toolbox.

Master Redstone Like Rory With This Essential Guide
Rory’s adventure in Blocky Bay Village starts with redstone dust and magical glowing pants—but there’s so much more to discover about this powerful Minecraft material! This official guide will help your child understand redstone mechanics the way Rory is learning to harness them.
What works
- Teaches redstone circuits, contraptions, and automation—exactly what Rory studies at the village workshop
- Official Minecraft guide with full-color illustrations and step-by-step projects kids can build right away
- Transforms a fun story moment into real building skills your child will use in their own Minecraft worlds
What doesn’t
- Not a picture book—this guide works best for kids ages 8+ who are ready to read longer instructional text
- Requires a Minecraft world or creative mode access to try the projects (it’s a guide, not a game)
This is perfect for kids who loved Rory’s workshop setting and want to build their own redstone creations. Minecraft: Guide to Redstone (Updated)
